Dempsey on the Cats Emerging Young Stars

It is a really exciting time for us, it really is.

Looking back a couple of years ago, a lot of the outside noise was saying that we were a lot older which we probably were. Credit to our recruiting time and list management, for rejuvenating our list and bringing a lot of young players in.

It is really exciting this next wave that we have coming through.

We had a pretty young team out there on the weekend, obviously we still have those experienced guys but there was plenty of youth too. 

Dempsey on the Round One Win

I think it was a great start to the year for us.

It couldn't be much better to be honest, playing a very good team with a strong list so to be able to get the big win that we had was awesome.

They are a good team so they were always going to come back, it was good that we fought them off in the last quarter.

We got back to playing our way and finished off well. 

Dempsey on how much has changed in 12 months

It is pretty crazy, I do think back sometimes and just think wow.

It was only 12 months ago that I received a Rising Star nomination, seeing where I have come from going from playing basketball growing up and coming into a new environment of footy which is cool.

I am blessed to have the opportunity to get here, to have so many good coaches and staff to help me out. 

Dempsey on Dangerfield's New Role

It is great, I feel like wherever he is on the field is good for us.

He is a weapon up forward, we are able to get guys like Max Holmes, Bailey Smith and Mitch Knevitt through the midfield as well which is so good.

They were all able to play good minutes in there, so it compliments our team really well. 

Dempsey on his Pre-Season

It was pretty smooth, it was a good pre-season and I was able to work on a lot of different things.

I was able to lockdown that wing role, which I didn't do a lot in my pre-season last year while I was playing forward.

It was good to be able to work on that, to continue to grow in that area. 

Dempsey on the round two clash with St Kilda

They are a good side, as every team is we choose to look at it like that.

We take them at their best, they will challenge us again at Marvel Stadium and they always play well there.

It will be a good challenge for us, they have some great players that we will need to watch out for.

It will be a good test for us, we don't play at Marvel a lot which will be another good challenge as well.
