Tom Stewart has topped the coaches votes for the second week running, as the All-Australian defender was awarded an equal game-high seven votes despite the Cats' 11 point loss to Brisbane on the weekend.

In another dominant display down back, and at times through the middle of the ground, the Geelong vice-captain picked up 25 disposals, took nine marks and laid five tackles to ensure his side were never out of the low-scoring contest at the Gabba.

Stewart also had a game high 13 intercept possessions, seven more than his nearest opponent, with Brisbane's Darcy Wilmot, and Cats Jake Kolodjashnij, Zach Guthrie and Jack Henry all tied on seven.

Stewart was the only Cat to receive a nod from the coaches.

The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort by an individual player in a season.
