Geelong spearhead Jackie Parry has continued her strong start to the season, booting another three goals against Sydney to help steer the Cats to a second straight win.

Following a game high three goal performance in round one, Parry combined with Chloe Scheer to put through eight goals against the Swans while also picking up 11 disposals and five marks.

Kicking nine goals across her 33 game career prior to this season, the 27 year old already has six majors to her name through two games in 2023 as she sits second on the AFLW goal kicking table.

The key forward has also averaged 14 disposals and seven marks across her first two outings, proving to be a serious asset for Geelong in the forward half.

On this week’s episode of the  ‘Yeah the Girls’ podcast, Parry touched on how her intense practice over the off season led to a more simplistic approach to goal kicking.

"One of my old coaches used to say; It's not about confidence, it's about knowing your craft,” Parry said.

“In the off season I worked on my goal kicking intensely, so I knew if I got chances in front of goal I had done the work to be ready.

"I stripped back my routine a bit with the help of the coaches, trying to just kick the ball the same way I would around the ground.

"It was very rigid before and now I just find a point and narrow in on that. It's helped me to simplify things rather than overthink it."

Parry was traded to Geelong in 2022 after three seasons at Melbourne, helping to bolster the Cats forward line alongside Chloe Scheer.

The mobile forward will look to benefit this season from a changed Geelong game style, as they look to increase their scoring potential and play a more offensive brand of football.
