Georgie Prespakis and Nina Morrison have both been selected to the AFL Players Association’s 22 Under 22 Team, celebrating the AFLW’s best young talent across the competition.
The two star Cats have been recognised for their stellar 2023 campaigns, which has helped lead Geelong to a Preliminary Final this weekend for the first time in their history.
Prespakis has continued her rapid ascension as one of the league’s best midfielders averaging 25 disposals, seven tackles and seven clearances per game this year.
The 20 year old has been rewarded for her strong form, receiving the highest amount of votes of any player (78% of teams) while also being named Vice Captain.
The dominant Cat has been selected on a wing in the 2023 edition of the 22 Under 22 team, marking her third selection in a row to commence her AFLW career.
Nina Morrison has earned her first selection in the 22 Under 22 team, being named on the opposite wing to Prespakis after a breakout season from the young Cat.
The 22 year old averaged a career high 23 disposals this season, while also adding five clearances and five tackles per game in an outstanding 2023 campaign.
Morrison has continued her extraordinary form in the AFLW post season, amassing 29 disposals and eight tackles against Melbourne in Sunday’s Semi Final.
Both Morrison and Prespakis have spearheaded an incredibly talented young core, which has driven the Cats to new heights in 2023.
The two star on-ballers will be instrumental once again this weekend, as the Cats travel to Brisbane to face the Lions on Saturday night.
