Geelong has selected former Hawthorn versatile tall Emerson Jeka with Pick. 7 in Wednesday’s AFL Rookie Draft.
Standing at 198cm tall, Jeka was initially selected by Hawthorn in the 2019 Rookie Draft, having played his junior footy at Altona Junior Football Club.
He played 33 games across three seasons with Hawthorn’s VFL affiliate Box Hill Hawks, kicking 37.28 – including 23 goals from eight appearances in 2021.
Jeka made seven appearances at AFL level, before being delisted at the end of the 2023 season.
Geelong Cats Recruiting Manager Stephen Wells said the Club was excited to add another talented tall to its list in Jeka.
“Emerson is someone who already has experience in the AFL environment, and we see him fitting in nicely with our playing group,” Wells said.
“He has strong marking ability and is a versatile tall prospect and we look forward to welcoming him down to the Club later this week.”
