As the AFL celebrates the Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round, a group of former Geelong teammates has come together to remember the extraordinary career of the Cats' greatest indigenous player.
Graham 'Polly' Farmer revolutionised the VFL with his athleticism and use of handball during the 101 games he played in the hoops between 1962.
Those who played alongside him will never forget his impact on them, the team and the game as a whole.
"I still reckon he's the greatest player that I ever saw," said Wayne Closter.
Added Ron Hosking, "The way he could handball and his precision and his fitness and so forth, he just dominated the scene from the first practice match he played."
Farmer played in Geelong's 1963 premiership and won the club's best and fairest in 1963 and '64.
He was also an outstanding player in the WAFL before and after his stint with the Cats, playing 176 games for East Perth and 79 for West Perth.
He won East Perth's best and fairest seven times and West Perth's once.
Farmer was made a Legend in the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
