The AFLW Cats preseason is now well and truly underway, with the team bolstered by a number of exciting off season additions that are ready to take them one step further in 2024.

Geelong have maintained a relatively stable list this season, only making five changes to the squad that took them all the way to a Preliminary final last year.

Chantal Mason and Bryde O’Rourke were both drafted by the Cats, while Kate Kenny adds to the Irish contingent and Bella Smith joined via trade from Brisbane.

Prespakis said she is excited about the new additions to the Geelong squad, which is set to add another dynamic as they head into the 2024 season.

"We have been really fortunate with our recruits,” Prespakis told media.

“We have had Bryde O'Rourke who has come through and she looks to be in really good form, and adds some real speed on our wing, she is settling in really well.

We have Chantal Mason who will slot in up forward, she is looking great and learning off the likes of Jackie Parry and Chloe Scheer.

We've got Kate Kenny from Ireland who came last week, it was great to meet her.

The Irish bring a little bit of flair and enjoyment which is great."

The last addition to the Cats squad for 2024 was Lilly Pearce, who will bolster the ruck stocks after spending time with Richmond’s AFLW side and Collingwood’s VFLW team.

Pearce is a tap ruck that wins plenty of hit-outs, which will compliment Geelong’s dominant midfield boasting some of the top on-ballers in the competition.

Prespakis noted how amazing Pearce’s impact has already been, in just her first few weeks at the club.

“We have all been blown away by how great she is,” Prespakis said.

“She is amazing athletically, she is young and still has a long way to go in her journey.

“Her tap work is awesome and I can't wait to get on the end of that, it is really exciting and she's doing very well."
