The wait is finally over, with the Cats AFLW team back in action on Saturday for their first hit-out in 2024.
Geelong will head up the highway for a match simulation against Collingwood, with the opening bounce at 2.00pm on Saturday at the AIA Vitality Centre in Melbourne.
The Cats have selected a 25 player squad to take on the Magpies, as preparations continue to ramp up ahead of their season opener on August 31 against the Dees at GMHBA Stadium.
Saturday’s format will see the two sides play three 20 minute quarters, with the fourth quarter to be based around different game scenarios and match simulations.
It will be the first of two warm up games for Geelong, with a practice match against Essendon at Windy Hill pencilled in for next Saturday.
Three Players to Watch
Bryde O’Rourke
The exciting young draftee is set to pull on the hoops for the first time on Saturday, already touted as one to watch in 2024 by teammates and coaches.
O’Rourke boasts brilliant evasive skills and elite speed, with height also an asset allowing her to play numerous positions across the ground.
Chantal Mason
Another draftee with plenty of potential, Mason is set to impress in the Cats forward half against the Magpies on Saturday.
Mason plied her trade with the Geelong VFLW team earlier this year, booting eight goals in her first seven games, including a brilliant 18 disposal and three goal performance against North Melbourne.
Kate Kenny
Geelong have made a habit of recruiting exciting Irish players and Kate Kenny is no exception, bringing incredible athleticism, agility and speed.
A highly touted Gaelic football star, Kenny has already started to adapt to the oval shaped ball, so watch out for her exciting flare.
