Geelong’s young core continue to impress in 2024 with Lawson Humphries, Shaun Mannagh and Ollie Dempsey all putting in strong performances against St Kilda.
Humphries rapid rise continues with another dazzling display, picking up 24 disposals and a team high nine intercept possessions against the Saints.
The first half was incredible from Humphries, collecting 19 disposals and seven intercepts by the main break.
Humphries performance drew strong compliments from Chris Scott post game, with Scott noting the influence also of Ollie Dempsey and Shaun Mannagh.
“Humphries first half in particular I thought was outstanding, he was the best player on the ground and he was really composed with the ball,” Scott said in his post game press conference.
“I guess that is the positive for us, that first half as much as anyone was driven by Lawson Humphries, Ollie Dempsey and Shaun Mannagh.
“They were doing good stuff for us and that has given us a bit of a look, it is one of the reasons we are optimistic about what can be done over the next six weeks or so.”
Shaun Mannagh booted two goals for the fourth consecutive game, while also winning 21 disposals and four clearances.
Ollie Dempsey continues to have an impact on the wing for the Cats collecting 20 disposals against the Saints, the seventh time he has reached 20 possessions in his last 13 games.
Dempsey also kicked a goal to go with his 20 touches, recording a team high eight score involvements while going at 85% disposal efficiency on Saturday night.
