Geelong AFLW star and Vice-Captain, Becky Webster joined hosts Cameron Ling and Meg McDonald on this week’s episode of ‘To the Final Bell.’
See the top moments below.
Reviewing the clash with West Coast
(Timestamp: 2:26 – 12:05)
Cameron Ling: “As a build-up, I am looking for a couple of things in the last few rounds.
I want a couple of good, hard games roughly two to three weeks before Finals.
The Saints game they learned a lot, played some good footy and then some poor footy.
The Fremantle game was an outstanding, hard and strong interstate win, the Crows game was a good, close win so there was a couple of good tune-ups there.
Then I look at if there was an easier win in the run home, how did the team go about it.
If it had of been this easy, bruise free, spluttering game and we walked away thinking it wasn't great, I wouldn't love that as a preparation.
But this was a hard, ruthless performance where they did the work early and put it to bed, then make it a cruisy second half.
I love that as a tune-up.”
Max Holmes Performance
(Timestamp: 11:19 – 12:05)
Cameron Ling: “I thought Max Holmes was brilliant, especially his run and ability to open up the game early on when it was up for grabs.
When the Cats needed to do the work early, he is the one who ripped open the middle of the ground.
Jezza was on fire, Ollie was on fire and all of our forwards were on fire, but heaven help the West Coast defenders when you have Max Holmes blitzing through the middle of the ground.”
Meg McDonald: “I look at Port Adelaide next week and some of their mids and I think, it will be a big day for Max and his ability to use that explosive speed.
They have plenty of speed of their own, that will be something to look forward to but he was fantastic against the Eagles.”
Becky Webster joins the podcast
(Timestamp: 21:05 – 35:56)
Becky Webster: “I grew up in a small country town at Benalla, I had never really visited Geelong before joining the club.
I thought it would be like a small Melbourne, but it is more like a big country town.
Ever since I moved here I feel like Geelong is home to me, being inside the four walls everyone is so friendly and has that same sort of country energy that I don't think you can get at any other club.
I feel right at home here in Geelong and this is where I want to play the rest of my football.
The girls are great, the coaching staff is amazing and it feels right to be here for as long as I can.”
