Jake Kolodjashnij has credited Chris Scott and the team for continually putting themselves in the Premiership race, when he joined the Sunday Footy Show on Channel Nine.

The reliable defender is preparing for the eighth Finals campaign of his AFL career, an incredible feat in just his 10th year with the Cats.

Geelong secured their 14th top four finish in the last 18 years, continuing the Club’s sustained success as they prepare to face Port Adelaide on Thursday night.

Kolodjashnij said it is a great position to be in as Geelong set themselves to mount another Premiership challenge in 2024.

“I am truly blessed, I have been lucky to play in some really solid sides alongside some great players,” Kolodjashnij told the Sunday Footy Show.

“To be able to put our hand up and compete for finals every year is the ultimate goal, we wouldn't have it any other way.

“Probably a big thanks to Scotty and his tactics, along with the list we have built over the years.

“Once again we are thankful to be in the position to contend, hopefully we can give the Finals a good shake.”

Geelong will face a big challenge against Port Adelaide on Thursday night, with the midfield battle in particular set to be an enticing matchup.

The Power have three players ranked inside the AFL’s top 25 for centre clearances in 2024, including the likes of Zak Butters and Jason Horne-Francis who have been impressive this season.

With some key changes to the midfield since the last clash with Port Adelaide, Kolodjashnij has full belief in the Cats on-ball division to perform strongly on Thursday.

“I am confident the boys will get the job done, we have got some solid players in there,” Kolodjashnij said.

“We missed Dangerfield in there last time we played them, we will have Stewart rolling through there who has done a really good job for us and is super flexible.

“I back those guys in every day of the week, it will obviously be a tough battle against Port's midfield quality which is amongst the best in the competition.

“I will back them in and hopefully we can get the job done.”
