Geelong return home for a Thursday night blockbuster under the lights at GMHBA Stadium, set to take on an in-form Hawthorn team.

The Cats are coming off a dominant performance on the Gold Coast last week, securing their first victory of the season with a 69-point win over the Suns.

Over the next 11 days Geelong will play three games as part of the AFLW’s condensed period, looking to gain momentum against the Hawks before clashes with Fremantle (Tuesday) and Sydney (Sunday).

Hawthorn have started the season strongly, recording three wins in their opening four games to sit near the top of the ladder and setting up an enticing matchup on Thursday night.

Last Time We Met

The last meeting with the Hawks came in the final round of the 2023 regular season, with Geelong putting together a terrific performance to run away with a 40-point victory.

The Cats found seven different goalkickers on the night, led by Chloe Scheer who booted three majors of her own.

Georgie Prespakis dominated through the midfield collecting 35 disposals and eight clearances, while Nina Morrison (34 disposals, seven clearances) and Amy McDonald (23 disposals, eight clearances) both impressed.

Player to Watch

Mikayla Bowen has been in sensational form to start the 2024 AFLW season, capping off a strong opening month with another brilliant performance against the Suns last week.

Bowen collected a career high 25 disposals in Week 4, kicking a goal and recording a game high 10 score involvements to help the Cats secure their first win of the season.

Well renowned for her pressure and intensity around the contest, Bowen is adding more strings to her bow averaging over 18 disposals and six tackles per game, while hitting the scoreboard in three of her four matches so far in 2024.
