The Cats are preparing to tackle a condensed period of games which will see them play three games in the next 11 days, while coming off a five-day break after their big win over Gold Coast last Saturday.

Thursday night will see Geelong do battle with Hawthorn, before a clash against Fremantle next Tuesday (GMHBA Stadium) and a trip to Sydney the following Sunday.

One crucial factor for the Cats in 2024 has been the development of Darcy Moloney, who picked up a career high 22 disposals last week against the Suns.

Speaking with Tim and Jess on K rock, Moloney said that the Cats are well prepared for the upcoming stretch of games.

“Obviously we have great staff at the club who know what they are doing, so it is not really too much up to us we just get told what to do and we do it,” Moloney said.

“Recovery obviously is super important, nutrition and sleep, all those things are crucial over this period.

“We just need to make sure we are on top of all of those things and we should be fine.”

The Cats recorded their first win of the 2024 season in impressive fashion last week, taking down the Suns by 69-points on Saturday afternoon.

Every single Geelong player recorded a score involvement, led by Aishling Moloney's four goal haul and 10 score involvements from Mikayla Bowen.

Moloney said it was an important confidence builder for the team, as they look to carry that momentum into the back half of the season.

“I think it was exactly what we needed,” Moloney said.

“We needed to get a little bit of confidence back to know we are as good as we think we are.

“Gold Coast are a quality side and coming into this weekend against Hawthorn at home, we know we need to bring our A-game again.

“We proved to ourselves that we can bounce back quickly, with these five day turnarounds coming up we need to come back strong each week.”
