Lowther on the Midfield Battle

It was the contested ball and asserting ourselves around the contest, to try and win first possession in the first phase was a really big thing going into the weekend.

They are a strong team, Brisbane are class inside with their strength and the way they get the ball from inside to out.

We thought if we can match it there, we can make it a bit of an arm wrestle between the arcs.

We were slightly down in contested ball, but we were able to make the most of the chances we got and I am very proud of the girls to get those things right.

Lowther on Julia Crockett-Grills

I think if you asked her she would say it hasn't been as dynamic as last season, but she has been building and doing things differently week to week.

That has helped to support the fact that we are trying to do things a little differently around the midfield.

In the past she has played as an outside runner and a high forward, but this year she has been predominantly playing as an inside mid. She has been slowly building into some consistency, today was one of those games where she started to finish her work.

Her attitude to contest, the ability to get out and run in second phase and then support going forward was the best it has been.

Lowther on the Cats Brand

We have been scored against more than we have in the past, which I think is a bit of an offset of how we are trying to play in terms of our attacking brand.

You are going to get more going the other way from time to time. But for us to get back and support our defence, I think we are number one or number two in the competition for moving the ball from back half to front half.

That is another layer of our game that we are trying to be consistent around, that has bee something we have done pretty well.

It showed today, we win the ball in the back half then we can use the ground to our advantage to try and move the ball.

Lowther on Anna-Rose Kennedy

Absolutely outstanding, there was a reason why we played her in the Prelim last year.

Today was a big game for us too with three matches left, we still want to execute and play the Geelong way.

That is how much faith we have in Anna-Rose's ability to play the game.

She is still learning, but today was a really big step forward.
