QUARTER TIME NOTES

One quarter in the books, here is a recap of what you missed:

  • Star recruit Bailey Smith reminded Cats fans of what he is capable of with his strong run and carry skills on full display in the first quarter.
  • Geelong’s defence in command: Jack Henry, Connor O’Sullivan and Zach Guthrie were key contributors in the first period, taking intercept marks.

  • The assist king: Gryan Miers has picked up where he left in 2024, being the key link between midfield and forward, hitting up Dangerfield, Neale and O’Sullivan in the forward 50

  • Dangerfield the forward: A potential look at what’s to come in 2025, Dangerfield spent majority of the first quarter up forward, taking two marks on the lead and providing a headache to Hawthorn’s back six.

  • Emerging midfielders taking their chance: The Cats trialled a few emerging midfielder in the middle of the ground, with Mitch Knevitt, Bailey Smith, Max Holmes and Tanner Bruhn getting their chance in the middle of the ground.
