COLLINGWOOD forward Mason Cox has been cleared of any structural damage to the left hand he injured in Saturday night's win over the Brisbane Lions.
The 25-year-old came off worse for wear after teammate Darcy Moore stomped on his left hand in a marking contest against the Lions.
Cox had the injury taped at three-quarter time and managed to play out the match with a noticeably swollen hand.
Magpies football manager Neil Balme said Cox had been cleared of any serious damage.
"Fortunately, it's been looked at and he has no serious problem with his hand," Balme told collingwoodfc.com.au on Monday evening.
"He should be fine for this week."
Cox was rewarded for his standout VFL performances with a debut in the Anzac Day blockbuster against Essendon in favour of out-of-form forward Travis Cloke.
The 211cm American kicked four goals in the comprehensive 78-point win over the Lions in what was his fourth-straight appearance for the Magpies.
Meanwhile, injury-prone defender Ben Reid remains in contention to return this week after being sidelined against the Lions with a left shoulder injury.
The 27-year-old picked up the AC joint setback after colliding into Carlton forward Levi Casboult's head/shoulder in round seven.
"We're reasonably confident he'll get up for this week," Balme said of Reid.
"Obviously he'll need to train and be tested."
