Geelong has named its VFL team to play Essendon at Central Reserve on Sunday afternoon, with numerous new faces set to feature.
The match will be the first in a series of three practice matches for Shane O’Bree’s side.
The Colac crowd will get to see three of their local products play with Luke Hillman, Zach Zdybel and Campbell Floyd selected for the Cats.
Both Zdybel and Hillman played every game for the Tigers in 2017 whilst Floyd played nine when not lining up for the VFL Cats.
Hillman had a breakout year, kicking 66 goals from 21 games to finish second on the GFL goalkicking table.
The Colac products will be among a host of new faces for the Cats on Sunday with Sam Siggins, Luke Kiel, Jay Lever, Nathan Horbury, Lachlan Noble, Jackson McLachlan, Mitch Diamond and Aiden Grace all set to play in the hoops for the first time.
These new faces will be joined by some of the Geelong VFL stalwarts and the AFL players that aren’t suiting up for the senior side.
With the senior Cats side playing in their second JLT series game at 1.05pm, Geelong fans can stay all afternoon for the double header.
The VFL Cats last faced the Bombers in the final round of 2017, where they claimed a thrilling two-point victory.
