Geelong will field three first-time Cats when they take on rival Hawthorn in an Easter Monday blockbuster.

Mark Blicavs, Josh Caddy and Jared Rivers will all pull on the hoops for the first time. For Blicavs it will be his first AFL game and only his fifth game of professional football after giving up on a running career last year.

Premiership ruckman Trent West has been named in the Cats side after overcoming knee surgery from early in February.

Travis Varcoe will be looking to play only his second game since the 2011 grand final. A foot injury restricted Varcoe to just one quarter in 2012.

The Cats took the Hawks down by two points in their last encounter in round 19, 2012. From that team the players out are Josh Hunt, Steve Johnson, James Kelly, Matthew Scarlett, Jackson Sheringham, Orren Stephenson and Josh Walker. Amongst the Cats ins who didn’t play that game are Varcoe, Blicavs, Caddy, Rivers, West, Jordan Murdoch and George Horlin-Smith.

Emergencies for Monday who may play in the Cats VFL game on Sunday are Joel Corey, Jesse Stringer and Walker.
