With the start of the home and away season less than two months away, Cats Media looks at how the youngsters on the senior list are tracking and which of them could make their AFL debuts in the early rounds.

3. BRANDAN PARFITT
The Cats' first pick in the 2016 national draft has been very impressive on the track so far, his skills and agility really standing out. If he can carry his training form into the JLT Community Series, Parfitt is a genuine chance to make his AFL debut in the first half of the home and away season.

12. WYLIE BUZZA
Has been showing off his versatility during pre-season match-simulation drills, spending time up forward and in the ruck, where he's had some good duels with Zac Smith. Will need some luck to break into the AFL team, but is doing everything in his power to put himself in the frame.

15. MATTHEW HAYBALL
Has added a lot of muscle to his frame in the past 12 months and now has the size to hold his own at the highest level. Has great skills and isn't without a chance of playing in the AFL in 2017.

17. ESAVA RATUGOLEA
Has been eased into his first pre-season as he recovers from some minor injury problems. Has plenty of promise, but is likely to spend 2017 learning his craft in the VFL.

19. QUINTON NARKLE
Has showed plenty on the track but has been restricted by a few minor fitness issues. Has the toughness and pace to make a real impact in the midfield and could well get a call-up to the AFL in 2017.

20. RYAN GARDNER
Probably the player in this list most likely to make his AFL debut in the early rounds. Has been an impressive performer in the match-simulation drills, holding down a key defensive position and holding his own against much more experienced opponents.

30. TIMM HOUSE
Had shoulder surgery over the summer and is now slowly building towards full fitness. Is likely to spend most of the 2017 season in the VFL.

31. JORDAN CUNICO
Is over his injury problems and has been showing great signs on the track. Was close to debuting late in the 2015 season and is a good chance to finally play his first AFL game this year.

44. TOM STEWART
Had shoulder surgery late last year but is now back in full training and has also turned some heads with his impressive work on the track. Will wear Corey Enright's old number and could well get the chance to fill the vacancy in the backline left by the great man's retirement.

45. RYAN ABBOTT
Suffered a minor leg fracture during the early stages of pre-season training, but has recovered well. Will start the year down the pecking order of ruckmen at the club, but has the experience and nous to make an impact at AFL-level if called upon.
