Geelong's last clash against Adelaide came in round 21 of the 2024 season, when the Crows visited GMHBA Stadium in a crucial match for the Cats top four hopes.

Inspired by a stunning six-goal performance from superstar forward, Jeremy Cameron, Geelong were able to overcome a plucky Adelaide outfit to record an important five-point victory.

The magic moment in a tense final quarter came from young gun Lawson Humphries, who curled through the first goal of his AFL career to snatch the lead back for the Cats late in the game.

Cameron was awarded the three Brownlow votes for his stellar display, while Tom Stewart (28 disposals, five clearances) and Patrick Dangerfield (21 disposals, nine clearances) were both busy.

Geelong started the game well offensively, booting three goals in the first quarter and four in the second term, but struggled to shake the Crows as they lead by just eight points at the main break.

Cameron kicked three majors in the first half and Mannagh slotted two of his own, with the Cats clearance dominance (27-15) proving to be important.

After Riley Thilthorpe booted the first major of the second half, Geelong responded strongly as they kicked three unanswered goals to open up a game high 22 point lead midway through the third quarter.

But Adelaide refused to go away, kicking the next five consecutive majors to turn the Cats 22 point lead into a 10 point deficit early in the final term.

Geelong managed to wrestle back the momentum, finding repeat opportunities in front of goal with Shannon Neale cutting the deficit with his first major of the afternoon.

Humphries then capitalised on his big moment to snatch the lead back, before Cameron put the cherry on top with his sixth goal of the afternoon to seal the victory for the Cats.
