Patrick Dangerfield has revealed the reason behind his career-best season in 2016.

Speaking to Triple M’s Hot Breakfast, Dangerfield said his move back to Geelong has resulted in him being able to do the things outside football he loves so much.

“I think just having that balance in lifestyle.” Dangerfield said.

“I loved my time in Adelaide, but it is a very footy-centric state and the waves are about an hour and twenty minutes away so.”

“Moving back, all of a sudden all those things I enjoyed growing up, footy and surfing, as well as fishing, it is all within reach and all very easy to do.”

“I’ve certainly reacquainted myself with getting out and having a paddle and I honestly believe it helps with preparation.”

With many still talking about his jaw-dropping performance against the Roos last weekend, Dangerfield admitted it was probably the best game he’d played in his 166 match career.

“Look it probably is, I spoke after the game about the most important thing for us was obviously winning the game because we’d played some pretty poor footy in a two-week block.”

“I suppose individually that is one of the better games I’ve played, you always like to play better games when you are winning games as well.”

Dangerfield and the Cats will take on the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night at Etihad Stadium.
