Not long back from an off-season break in Ireland, Cats recruit Zach Tuohy has turned his attention towards starting training with his new teammates.

The 26-year-old visited Simonds Stadium on Tuesday and met a few members of the club’s staff.

“Obviously I’ve been looking forward to this for quite a while, and to finally get here and meet everyone is great,” he told Cats Media.

One of the best rebounding defenders in the AFL, Tuohy joined the Cats from Carlton during the recent trade period.

He has signed a four-year contract with the club will help fill the hole left by the retirement of six-time All Australian Corey Enright.

“As soon as Geelong came along I was really keen, given the calibre of club they and the calibre of people that seem to be working at the club,” Tuohy said.

“Once the option was available I was all over it and I was just rapt that it finally got done.”

Tuohy is already looking forward to starting pre-season with the rest of the fifth-year and older players on December 5.

“It feels like I haven’t played in a long time, so I can’t wait to get going,” he said.

“It’s only a few weeks away now, but I’m certainly chomping at the bit.”
