18 hours on from one of the most disappointing Geelong performances at Simonds Stadium in many a year there was something to make Cats fans smile.

Whilst many of the AFL side were licking their wounds heading into a soul-searching bye, a group of injured Cats were showing why they are keen to make their impact on the senior side in the second half of the season.

In all ten Cats competed to various levels in chilly conditions under the watchful eye of rehab staff.

Jimmy Bartel, Dean Gore, Daniel Menzel, Cam Delaney and Josh Cowan had the strongest session as they put in hard running and skills in a session with academy coaches Paul Hood and Shane O’Bree. The Cats are optimistic Delaney may be available in the short to medium term after progressing well from his foot issues.

Mitch Duncan brought a smile to the physio’s faces with his strong running. The midfielder is progressing on schedule and the Cats are confident of his return soon.

Two of the taller Cats, Hamish McIntosh and Nathan Vardy completed agility running and some skills with Vardy’s high leaping on show

Jordan Cunico has resumed running after knee surgery and produced a good pace around the track.

Luckless forward Lincoln McCarthy also resumed straight-line running and the Cats will continue to build his program in the second half of the season.
