The VFL Cats face a challenging task this Saturday as they take on VFL ladder leader the Box Hill Hawks at Simonds Stadium.

In a boost for the Cats, Cameron Delaney will make his first appearance in the navy blue and white hoops.

The ex-Kangaroo has battled a long-term toe injury since his arrival at the club at the end of last year, but has undertaken an extensive training block over the last few months in preparation for his football return.

The VFL Cats regain George Horlin-Smith (AFL omission), Michael Luxford (foot) and Padraig Lucey (managed), who are among 14 AFL listed players named in the VFL squad of 27.

Torquay defender Paul Burchell and Newtown’s Dane McFarlane have also been named in the squad.

The last time the two sides met was round 3, 2014 at Simonds Stadium. The Hawks were too good for the Cats, taking the chocolates 17.20.122 to Geelong 14.11.95.

Head to head the sides have played 22 times, Geelong 9 wins and Box Hill 13.

A TAC Cup match between the Geelong Falcons and Northern Knights will follow he VFL, kicking off at 2.30pm.
