1. Jed Bews' effort on Lindsay Thomas
One of Geelong's outstanding performers in Sunday's loss to North Melbourne was Bews. The 21-year-old kept Lindsay Thomas goalless and was judged best on ground by numerous pundits. Bews is rapidly developing into one of the Cats' most important players.

2. Mitch Clark's speccie
With 12 minutes remaining in the game and Geelong trailing by eight points, Steve Johnson won a centre clearance and sent the ball flying into his team's forward line. The Cats fans were soon out of their seats as Mitch Clark jumped over North defender Scott Thompson and hauled in a spectacular mark. Clark went back and kicked the goal. He finished the game with 13 disposals, six marks and three goals.

3. Tom Hawkins' tribute to his mum
The star forward endured a terribly tough week in the lead-up to the game after the death of his mother, Jennifer, last weekend. But with his family watching on, Hawkins took a number of early marks and endeavoured to impose himself on the contest. He missed a couple of shots at goal before being hit lace-out by a pass from Steven Motlop midway through the third quarter. Hawkins went back and slotted the goal, then paid tribute to his mum by making a heart with his hands as his teammates rushed towards him. There was hardly a dry eye in the house.

4. Stevie J's cameo
In a surprise move, Steve Johnson began the game in the green sub's vest. But he made a big impact when he replaced Josh Walker during the third quarter. Although Johnson was only on the ground for 32 per cent of the match, he finished with nine disposals at 78 per cent efficiency, two marks and two goals.

5. Corey Enright's impressive form
The five-time All Australian has been back to his best in recent weeks, and his effort across half-back against North was very impressive. Enright finished with 26 disposals at 88.5 per cent efficiency. He also took seven marks and had six rebounds from defensive 50.
