GEELONG coach Chris Scott says fixing his team’s leaky defence is a key focus ahead of Saturday’s match against the Western Bulldogs at Simonds Stadium.

The Cats conceded easy goals on numerous occasions during last weekend’s 41-point loss to North Melbourne, and the effort has seen everyone in the playing and coaching groups put on notice.

“We were very, very disappointed with our defensive performance on the weekend,” Scott said on the latest episode of Tweet The Coach, brought to you by Momentum Energy.

“We thought that was a priority going into the game, and either the planning, execution or both was very, very average.

“We’re embarrassed and, really, very-short term that’s the priority for us - making sure we tighten up our systems and make it harder for the opposition to score.

“Because even though history shows Geelong’s been an effective attacking team long before my time, I always admired the way Geelong teams defended.

“The last couple of week, hopefully, is an aberration or we’ll all be held to account.”

Scott tackled a number of other issues on Tweet The Coach, including:

* The players in line to replace suspended skipper Joel Selwood this weekend
* Geelong’s poor free kick record this season
* Why North Melbourne was able to score so many easy transition goals
