Geelong veteran Paul Chapman will have to wait a little longer to make his long awaited return to the Cats side.

Chapman pulled up sore after yesterday's main training session, with the Cats ruling him out of Friday night's VFL clash with Collingwood.

Cats General Manager of Football, Neil Balme, said the club would continue to take a conservative approach with Chapman.

“Whilst it is obviously disappointing for the club and Paul, we have said all along we would be ultra conservative with Paul." Balme said.

“Paul's approach to his rehabilitation has been second to none and we look forward to his return to competitive football.”

Chapman has played 247 for the Cats since being drafted in 1999.
