This week we launch a new series, We Are Geelong, in which we profile our most passionate members.

To kick things off, we bring you the tale of 92-year-old Lorna Collins, who is, in the words of her daughter Judy Lawrence, “the most one-eyed ardent Cats fan I know!”

LORNA COLLINS

The following words were submitted by Judy Lawrence:

My mother lives on Phillip Island and has Geelong paraphernalia displayed around her home.

Her doorbell plays the Cats’ song, she has 'Polly' (a Geelong footy player weathervane) spinning on her gate and she has a Geelong gnome in her window.

She also has signs about a “Cat lady living here” and navy blue and white throughout her home.

She has two huge “Go Cats” signs on her fridge, which get moved to her windows during the season.

Mum cannot watch footy with anyone but Geelong supporters (usually me) as she gets extremely excited.

She has followed Geelong her whole life and nobody can say one detrimental word against her (our) team.

Mum is known throughout her retirement village for her one-eyed supporting and spends her whole summer waiting for 'her boys' to play again.

She knows every Geelong player and tells me how good our new boys are.

Geelong is her life. She has managed to convince three of her four kids to follow the Cats, along with seven out of 10 grand children and four of her great-grandkids.

For her 90th birthday, a hall was decorated completely in Geelong colours, balloons and serviettes, with photos of her boys stuck around the room.

So thank you Cats!

You keep her young, active and hopeful for the next flag.

I couldn't imagine life for mum without her Geelong.
