Cats must stay alert
Scott Gullan says Sunday won't be a danger game but it won't be a walk in the park either
The Cats will battle the Western Bulldogs at 4:40pm this Sunday after the VFL curtain raiser at Simonds Stadium.
“A Brendan McCartney coached team are always going to be hard at the contest, he’ll try and lift them down here given his history here too,” Gullan told Cats TV.
Last Sunday the Bulldogs won their fifth game when they defeated the Demonds by six-points at Etihad Stadium.
“It’s not a danger game but you wouldn’t want to take it too easy because there is a lot of talent in this Bulldogs side,” Gullan said.
Over the next three weeks, Gullan believes Cats fans will be in for an entertaining performance from Geelong’s key forward Tom Hawkins.
Already Hawkins has booted 41 goals this season, which is only eight goals away from his 2013 total of 49.
“These next three weeks I would like to see Hawk kick eight plus because he’s the best power-forward in the game, he’s dominating people at the moment so you want to see some reward,” Gullan said.
With the Bulldogs leading defender, Jordan Roughead, out with injury, Hawkins big show in the forward line might be as early as this Sunday.
“Roughead would have been his match-up but he’s out crook. Dale Morris is a great veteran but he could be too small.
“They’re very light on for tall forwards so Tomahawk could have a day out.”
