GEELONG'S medicos have declared Rhys Stanley's foot operation a success.
The 24-year-old ruckman injured his foot in the Cats' round 11 win over Port Adelaide and underwent surgery last week.
He now faces a rehabilitation period of around four months.
"The procedure he had went really well," club physio Mark Young said on CatsTV's nib Medical Room.
"He had some pins inserted into the bones in the middle of his foot where it had become unstable from his injury.
"He's recovering and feeling better already.
"He'll be in a boot for a few weeks and then he's got a decent rehab ahead of him.
"But really the focus for him becomes pre-season."
Stanley joined the Cats from St Kilda during the 2014 trade period and ended up playing eight AFL games this season, averaging 12.4 disposals and 15.5 hit-outs per match along with kicking six goals.
He was in career-best form during the first half of the win over the Power, giving Cats fans and the club's coaches a glimpse of what is possible when he returns to full fitness in 2016.
