Where will Blitz move next?
Hamish McIntosh believes Mark Blicavs will continue to play as a multipurpose player for the Cats.
McIntosh admits that it’s impossible to give an accurate answer without being psychic, however, he believes the former-steeplechaser will retain his role of playing in multiple areas across the ground.
“It’s hard to say… he’s the type of guy that could play anywhere,” McIntosh told Cats TV.
“I can’t really look into the crystal ball but I’m guessing it would be pretty similar to where he’s playing now.
“He plays a bit of wing now and he plays as a cover off for the guys on the side, plays back, plays forward and then he comes into the ruck – so he’s such a handy player to have in your side.
“He’s a guy that can just play all positions and I think that’s going to be a real strength of Blicavs’ going forward.”
Gullan sees a slight similarity in Blicavs and ex-superstar Anthony Koutoufides in the way that he uses his athleticism to cover vast amounts of ground.
Since Blicavs’ debut in Round 1 against the Hawks in 2013, the Cats have included the category B rookie in their best 22 over a lengthy string of 24 games.
“I don’t think he’s a ruckman, I think he’d be a good midfield clearance player, I mean like Anthony Koutoufides,” Gullan said.
“I’m not saying he’s going to be anything like him but he’s got that bigger body shape and that pace with his athletic background – so at the moment he’s a great substitute swing-man.”
