It has been confirmed that Mathew Stokes will be sidelined for a few weeks after spraining his left ankle while in action on Saturday night.

To help soften the blow, Geelong’s physio Mike Snelling says Stokesy should make a quick return going by his past recovery record.

“He’s got an ankle sprain, he’s had a few in the past on his other ankle, but this time it’s his left,” Snelling told Cats TV.

“He’ll be a few weeks obviously, but he normally comes up pretty well from these injuries so we assume the best in his recovery.”

Up the other end of the field Harry Taylor looks to be a likely inclusion for Friday night’s clash after missing last week’s Gold Coast trip due to a minor injury.

“He’s got a little sprain inside his knee – it’s very minor. He trained very well on the weekend and we anticipate full training this week and he’ll hopefully come up for this weekend,” Snelling said.

Snelling finished up with some exciting news about Lincoln McCarthy, who has only played two games this year.

“We’ll run him through his paces tomorrow and we’ll see how he comes up, hopefully if it’s not this weekend it will be the weekend after.”
