We take a look at which Cats are in the selection mix for our round 13 blockbuster against Richmond at the MCG on Sunday.
Ryan Abbott (21 disposals, 27 hitouts, one goal)
Continues to show his versatility, racking up 21 touches and a goal to go with his 27 hitouts. Fought admirably in the ruck against man mountain Braydon Preuss and earned himself a place amongst the best players.
Cory Gregson (19 disposals, three tackles, five goals)
The small forward put his hand up for a senior recall with five goals in a best-on-ground performance in the Cats big VFL win on Saturday.
George Horlin-Smith (22 disposals, eight clearances, two goals)
Will be strong contender for a recall after a complete performance in the VFL, racking up 22 touches, eight clearances, five tackles and two goals.
“Attitude, leadership and the way he embraces the VFL program – (Horlin-Smith) plays consistent footy every week,” said VFL Coach Shane O'Bree.
Lincoln McCarthy
A late withdrawal against the Kangaroos, if he proves his fitness this week a recall looks likely following an impressive performance against the Suns in his last outing.
Quinton Narkle (19 disposals, four inside 50s, three goals)
Narkle produced his finest game since returning from a knee injury. The midfielder racked up 19 disposals, 13 by foot and was damaging in front of goal with three majors.
“The last couple of weeks, (Narkle) has looked really sharp, playing to his strengths around the contest and his stoppage craft has been really good,” said VFL Coach Shane O’Bree.
Scott Selwood (16 disposals, five hard ball gets, three tackles)
Produced a solid performance in his first game back from injury. In limited game time he collected 16 disposals and was strong in the contest. Likely to be given another week in the VFL before being considered for a recall.
Jackson Thurlow (39 disposals, eight marks, six inside 50s)
Was the major ball winner in the big VFL win against the Roos with 39 disposals. Will come under strong consideration for a place in the senior team with his ability to play in multiple areas of the ground a major strength.
