Cats draftee Darcy Lang was best on ground whilst full back Matt Scully was moved to the forward line with a three goal performance the reward.
The winless North Ballarat side took it up to the Cats all day and the return of North Melbourne skipper Andrew Swallow boosted the Roosters.
