Geelong and Brisbane: Comparison of all matches played plus last 200, 100, 50, 25, and 10 .

Geelong played for premiership points in Queensland 35 years before any Bears or Lions did. In round 8, 1952 Geelong played Essendon under lights at the Brisbane exhibition ground.

Geelong and Brisbane have met most often in rounds 6, 13 and 15 (4 matches in each). 2014 will be the second time the two have played in round 2. The previous meeting in round 2 was their first in 1987 - Geelong 19.17-131 vs Brisbane 23.12-150. Brisbane had previously defeated Nth Melbourne in round 1 at the MCG, but were not to win consecutive matches again in Victoria until rounds 16 and 18, 1996.

Geelong lost their first 2 matches against Brisbane in 1987.  The Cats then won 10 of the next 12 matches 1988-1995. Then after the only drawn match between the two in round 10 1996, Geelong only won one (round 13 2004 at Kardinia Park) of the next 13 matches against the Lions to the end of 2005. Since then Geelong have won 11 of 13 matches played against Brisbane.

All of Geelong vs Brisbane matches have been played on either Saturday (26) or Sunday (15). Geelong have won 14 and drawn one of the Saturday matches and won 8 of those played on Sunday.

Geelong have won 12 and drawn 1 of 21 matches in Victoria  vs. Brisbane.

Brisbane won 5 consecutive matches at Kardinia Park 1996-2003 and Geelong have won the last 7 encounters there against the Lions 2004-2013.

Geelong have won 10 and lost 10 vs Brisbane in Queensland - 3 wins from 5 matches at Carrara and 7 wins from 15 matches at the Gabba.

 Geelong's most consecutive wins against Brisbane at the Gabba are 3 - 2010-2012. Brisbane won 6 consecutive at the Gabba 1997-2005.

 Now that Football Park in Adelaide is gone, of venues that Geelong has played more than a couple of matches at since 1991, their lowest match/win% is at the Gabba (46.7%). Next lowest: 52.6% at the SCG.
