Cats TV caught up with Josh Hunt and AFL journalist, Adam McNicol, for Argue the Toss, where they spoke about Fremantle’s developing list.

Currently the Dockers are sitting at third place on the ladder and they’re looking close to being hot favourites for this year’s final.

Despite their loss of leading ruckman, Aaron Sandlilands, and skipper, Matthew Pavlich, their elite teamwork and game skills have exceeded nine AFL sides this year, with only two loses and one draw.

According to Hunt, Fremantle have responded really well under senior coach, Ross Lyon, and the entire team have effectively stepped it up a notch to compensate for the loss of two stars.

“I think that would be a big shock to everyone not having your number one ruckman, and arguably the best ruckman in the comp, and then the superstar in Pav set out for pretty much the whole year,” Hunt said.

“I think they’re just less predictable now and everyone has bought into the whole Ross Lyon defence style, which is helping to cover for the loss of Pavlich and Sandilands.”

McNicol agrees with Hunt and says Ross Lyon’s influence is evident and having an impressive impact on their playing style and the club’s culture.

“I know Nathan Fyfe was interviewed after their win over North on the weekend and he straight away said “we’re not a team of superstars”, you can tell Ross Lyon has just drummed that into them, “we’re a team of role players”, they all play as one big unit, so it’s going to be a really tough battle.”
