Scarlett retired at the conclusion of the 2012 season after 284 games, ranking fifth on Geelong’s all time games list. He was named in the All Australian team six times and won the Cats best & fairest in 2003.
Rarely beaten in one on one contests, Scarlett was a catalyst from the defensive half of the ground, repelling opponents and starting attacking moves. One of the signature moments of his career came in time on of the 2009 grand final, when his toe poke to Gary Ablett in the centre of the MCG led to Geelong’s game winning goal.
The club will work with Scarlett as to the best way for the supporters to have the opportunity to celebrate his elevation to legend status.
