Skipper misses by 2 votes
AFLCA Champion of the Year Award votes came to an end and Geelong's skipper misses out by a whisker
Geelong’s skipper, who was leading the AFLCA Champion of the Year Award last week, has just missed out on the coaches’ award by two votes.
Unfortunately Joel Selwood’s two votes from Saturday’s game against Brisbane was not enough to push him over the line.
It was Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury who overtook the Geelong skipper after receiving nine votes for his performance against the Roos, with a winning total of 96 votes followed by Gary Ablett on 95 and Selwood on 94.
The two Cats to receive the most votes from senior coaches on Saturday at Simonds Stadium were Jimmy Bartel and Mathew Stokes with seven votes each.
