With the Super Bowl set down to be played Monday morning (Australian time), it is worth comparing some of the Cats stars with the various members of the Broncos and Seahawks. Which Cats could play and in what positions?

Jimmy Bartel: The 2007 Brownlow medallist can beat you many ways without really noticing he is doing it! Similar to Broncos’ WR Wes Welker. Year in year out Welker gets the job done quietly, juts like Jimmy.

Andrew Mackie: Does his job every week but been over shadowed by some great fellow defenders through his career. Mackie and Seahawks safety Earl Thomas are cut from the same cloth.

Travis Varcoe: Geelong’s number 5 can be a game changer – witness 2011 grand final. Varcoe has been hit by injury in recent years, just like Seattle WR Percy Harvin. Many expect Harvin to be a game changer on Monday.

Harry Taylor: Tall, always in position, breaks up big plays. Taylor is similar to Seattle DB Kam Chancellor. Both need to play well to help their club’s get a win.

James Kelly: What does my team need from me today? What can I do to win? James Kelly has stepped up when needed, just like Denver LB Danny Trevathan.

Joel Selwood:  Seattle RB Marshawn Lynch is known as ‘Beast Mode”. Is there a more apt description of the Cats skipper?

Steve Johnson: Smart, not as athletic as some, great skills, and uses his experience to out think opponents.  Steve Johnson – yes. Also Broncos QB Peyton Manning.

Tom Hawkins:  Big, strong, a favourite target man. Hawkins and Denver’s TE Julius Thomas have plenty in common. Thomas caught 65 passes and scored 12 touchdowns and is one of Peyton Manning’s prime targets.

Mathew Stokes:  Seen by many to be undersized, an ability to beat you in a variety of ways. Mathew Stokes meet Seattle QB Russell Wilson.

Steven Motlop: Young and a dynamic runner, Denver’s Knowshon Moreno shares many traits with the Cats dynamo Motlop

Corey Enright: A tough as nails defender that rarely ever gets beaten. Has stood the test of time over the long haul. Denver’s Champ Bailey is a 15 year NFL veteran defensive back with the same traits as Cats five time All Australian.
