Cats TV asked, Andrew Mackie and journalist Scott Gullan, what plan the Cats will put in place to limit Gary Ablett’s attack on the ball on Saturday night?
Mackie knows Ablett will be ready to weave his magic when he returns to his old hunting ground with the Suns.
Mackie says there wouldn’t be any play that would stop Ablett in his tracks. The Cats only option is to try and limit his influence on the scoreboard and decrease his chances of making 37 touches, which he made against the Hawks last week.
“He is such a good player no matter what plan you put in place he’s going to find his ball, probably just have to limit the effect he has on the scoreboard, that would probably be a good result for us,” Mackie told Cats TV.
The lights won’t be the only spectacle this Saturday night. Gullan feels the return of Ablett to Simonds Stadium will be just as significant for the Geelong fans.
“They’ve missed Gary getting 35 touches and kicking five goals every week, I mean you miss just watching him go about his work,” Gullan said.
“I think it has even gone up a level in his team, which is clearly inferior to Geelong.”
