Geelong has unveiled the numbers their 2020 trade, free agency and draft recruits will wear next season.
With some of the club’s most revered numbers up for grabs, the newest owners of the guernseys are set to get fans talking.
2019 Coleman Medallist Jeremy Cameron will wear the number 5 formerly worn by 1995 Coleman Medallist Gary Ablett Snr. The only two other players to wear the number 5 since Ablett were premiership player Travis Varcoe and Nakia Cockatoo who held it for the past six seasons.
Former Kangaroo Shaun Higgins will retain the number 4 he wore at Arden Street after being handed the number on Monday. Some of the club’s finest players including Bob Davis, Andrew Mackie and Gary Ablett Jnr have worn the jumper.
Isaac Smith will take the number 7 previously worn by Harry Taylor after playing his Hawks career in the number 16.
Draftees Max Holmes (9), Shannon Neale (33), Nick Stevens (21) and Paul Tsapatolis (36) also received their new numbers and will look to make a name for themselves in them in 2021 and beyond.
The numbers 13 and 34 will be vacant on the Cats AFL list in 2021.
