In this week’s instalment of Tweet the Coach Chris Scott discussed Joel Selwood’s form which has dropped slightly after an impressive start to the season.

Selwood was at his brilliant best at the beginning of the year but his name hasn’t been appearing at the top of the stats table as regularly as usual.

When asked whether Selwood was injured, in poor form or a victim of lofty expectations, Scott opted for the latter.

“I think we expect a lot of Joel and he was outstanding at the start of the year,” Scott said.

“Probably against all expectation really, given that he didn’t really train in the post-Christmas period, played five minutes of the NAB Cup and then went into round 1 dominating and did so for the next month.”

Scott was confident that Selwood’s current soreness was nothing too serious and that his form was more so due to a change in position.

“We have played him a little bit out of position for a couple of reasons we don’t talk too much about publicly.

“So that’s probably limited him of his normal output as a genuine on-baller but we’re really confident that he’ll be getting back to his best within the next few weeks.”
