Geelong president Colin Carter believes the club should be able to host matches in the first three weeks of the finals series at Simonds Stadium.
“This whole notion that you play finals where you get a better crowd has somehow filtered into the system. I don’t accept as being a valid criteria at all,” Carter told the Herald Sun.
“That is one of the things we will be arguing. It has somehow crept into the language. I don’t think it’s defensible.
“If you have earned the right to a home final lets accept the Grand Final is at the MCG but I think everything else should be up for grabs.
“Name one other competition around the world where monetising (a final) takes precedence over earned right.
“You would be hard pushed to find it.
"For 100 years we played all finals at the MCG because it was neutral for 11 of 12 teams but we have now got a national competition.
“No doubt there will be arguments along the way and we will get to the issue of whether preliminary finals are an exception but the AFL needs to have a pretty clearly annunciated policy."
