CARLTON captain Marc Murphy is in serious doubt for Saturday night's clash against Geelong and could miss additional matches after disrupting scar tissue in his troublesome left foot.
Murphy re-injured his foot early in last Sunday's 109-point loss to Melbourne, less than a quarter into his return from five weeks on the sidelines with plantar fasciitis.
Carlton football manager Andrew McKay said on Tuesday the club would not know the extent of Murphy's injury until later this week.
"Marc Murphy disrupted some scar tissue in his foot on the weekend, spent some time on the bench, (but) played the rest of the game," McKay said.
"We'll just see how he pulls up over the next couple of days before deciding on his prognosis."
In better news for the Blues, McKay was confident Charlie Curnow would be fit to take on the Cats after missing last round's match with quad tightness, but said the forward would have to pass a fitness test at the end of the week.
Carlton will regain Ed Curnow from suspension, but has a host of other key players who might not return until after the club's round 12 bye, including:
- Caleb Marchbank (ankle) 1-2 weeks
- Levi Casboult (ribs) 2-3 weeks
- Matt Kennedy (ankle) 3 weeks
- Ciaran Byrnes (quad) 4 weeks
