Fresh off the bye week and the chance to take a small break from footy, the Cats are back with renewed energy and optimism heading into the second half of their season.
Players took the opportunity to get away with a number of players heading away on a golf trip, some looking for sunshine in Noosa, while Miers and a host of other young guns headed to Tasmania during their time off.
Miers has been sensational for the Cats in the first half of the season, averaging a career high 21 disposals per game while also hitting the scoreboard with 11 goals.
Despite his strong form, Miers still relished the chance to rest and prepare for a big second half of the season as the Cats look to cement their position in the top eight.
"I am definitely feeling refreshed,” Miers said.
“The first half of the year we saw a little bit of fatigue amongst the group, and it was a really important time for us to get refreshed and rejuvenated for the second half of the season.
“I definitely feel that way, and I feel like a far better version of myself than I did two weeks ago.
“Everyone went away on their own little trips, just to get away from the footy world for a bit and now we are very keen to get back into it, eager to play on Friday night.”
Awaiting in round 15 is a Friday night blockbuster, with the Cats set to take on Carlton under the lights at the MCG.
The clash will mark the second time in eight games that Geelong has faced the Blues, with the Cats claiming a 13 point victory in the first meeting.
Despite the short turnaround between clashes, Miers said the playing group are prepared to take this week as it comes, while not placing too much emphasis on past results.
"Every team, each week is very different proposition,” Miers said.
“We could play the same team in back to back weeks and it could look completely different, in the sense of how confident one is or how injuries can affect things.
“We just want to take Carlton for what it is this week, it was a really close game last time and a really fun game to play.
“You know they will be at their best, they have some of the best stars in the league on one list.
“We believe our whole team approach can bring it against any team, we just need to bring that and I am confident we can win."
The Cats face Carlton on Friday night at the MCG, with the opening bounce at 7.40pm.
