Jeremy Cameron joined Geelong via trade at the end of the 2020 season, in what is widely regarded as one of the biggest deals in AFL history.

After forging a successful career over nine seasons with the GWS Giants, Cameron returned to Victoria in a trade that included six draft picks and one of the competition’s best players.

The Cats sent a first round selection, a pair of future first round picks and a future fourth rounder to the Giants as part of the blockbuster trade.

In return they got Jeremy Cameron and two future second round picks, helping to secure the rights to one of the most dominant and dangerous forwards in the AFL.

The deal itself came right down to the last minute, with the paperwork officially lodged in the dying seconds of the 2020 trade period.

Cameron played 171 games and booted 427 goals with GWS, being selected to the All-Australian team twice and claiming the 2019 Coleman Medal.

The key that unlocked the trade came in 2019, when the Cats acquired three picks from West Coast in exchange for Tim Kelly.

As discovered last year, through a long and complicated process, the Jeremy Cameron trade can be traced back as far as 2004 when the Cats drafted Brent Prismall.

The outcome has been a terrific result for Geelong, with Cameron booting 202 goals across 78 games while helping the Cats win a premiership in 2022.

It adds to an impressive CV which includes three All-Australian selections, a Carji Greeves Medal, a Coleman Medal and a Premiership ahead of his 250th game this weekend.
