It was a milestone that Geelong had been building towards for over 127 years, the Cats recording their 200th win at the MCG in Round 18 this season when they defeated Collingwood.

The Club’s first win at the venue came back in round eight of the 1901 season, commencing a long and storied history on the hallowed turf which continues to this day.

Along the journey there have been plenty of big moments, Finals and Premierships, culminating in the 200th win in Geelong Football Club history late in the 2024 season.

The match was highly anticipated, the Cats regaining form with back to back wins facing off against the reigning premiers, Collingwood looking to stay in touch with the top eight.

A healthy crowd of over 73,000 packed into the MCG on a chilly Friday night, but Geelong came out red hot booting three goals in the opening two minutes of the contest.

The game went back and forth for much of the night, neither team able to get separation on the scoreboard with the Cats holding a slender five point lead early in the final quarter.

But playing a controlled and precise brand of football, Geelong dominated the final period of play recording three unanswered goals in the last term to close out a 20 point victory.

Lawson Humphries earned himself a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in just his third AFL game, collecting 23 disposals and 13 marks while going at 96% disposal efficiency in a phenomenal performance.

Ollie Dempsey also recorded an incredibly rare feat playing 100% game time, not coming off for a single break during play in an impressive display of endurance.

The three Brownlow votes went to Jack Bowes (24 disposals, seven clearances), Patrick Dangerfield was brilliant through the middle, while Zach Guthrie played a pivotal lockdown role on Bobby Hill.
