Cats TV made its weekly visit to the nib Medical Room to speak to Geelong’s physio, Mike Snelling, for the Cats latest injury report.

Snelling was very excited to announce that, Josh Cowan, will be playing his first game of football in the VFL this week, having been out with injury since 2011.

According to Snelling, Cowan has fast tracked his recovery and has progressed faster than originally expected, which is really exciting news for the young 22 year-old and the club.

“Josh is looking really good, this week we anticipate he’ll be playing, which is a fantastic result for a guy, who at the beginning of the year, we were really pessimistic about his chances to play this year, but (it looks like) he’ll be back this week,” Snelling told Cats TV.

Unfortunately Snelling didn’t have too much to add about Paul Chapman’s hamstring injury.

“To state the obvious it’s been longer than we anticipated but he is progressing and we are being careful with him,” Snelling said.

"It is a distal tendon problem, which I’ve said before can be problematic, but his strength is really good in the gym and he’s beginning to run. So we’ll have to progress his running this week and then obviously progress it again next week and see how he goes.”

Snelling also said that, Hamish McIntosh, is on his way to recovery and he's not far away from his examination on the training tack.

“He (McIntosh) is not far away from being tested, he just needs a couple of weeks of training. He looks really good and his movement is so much better than it has been.”
