Dashing defender Josh Cowan will return to action via the VFL in Sunday's clash with Coburg at Simonds Stadium.

Cowan was grounded by hamstring soreness for a fortnight, but he has performed strongly on the training track in recent days.

"[He] has trained well this week and he's been cleared to play on Sunday in the VFL, so you'll see him then," Cats physio Mark Young said on the round six episode of nib Medical Room.

This week's Medical Room also includes updates on Mitch Clark (calf), Sam Menegola (knee) and Jordan Cunico (knees).
