We take a look at which players are contention to play Sydney at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, presented by Thirsty Camel.

Patrick Dangerfield
Missed the Cats round 10 win over the Suns with an ankle injury. If he can prove his fitness on the track this week, he appears a certainty to take in his place in Geelong’s 22 against the Swans.

Esava Ratugolea
The key forward was the carry over emergency against the Suns after being managed against the Bulldogs the round prior. The 20-year-old is among a host of tall Cats fighting for a limited number of spots.

Zach Guthrie
Similar to Ratugolea, Guthrie didn’t play any football on the weekend as he travelled to the Gold Coast as an emergency. May find it tough to break into a settled backline.

Lachie Fogarty (24 disposals, seven clearances, six score involvements)
Has hit the ground running since his return from injury and was again named in the Cats’ best after a strong performance in the middle of the ground. Likely to be given a few more weeks at VFL level.

Scott Selwood (23 disposals, nine score involvements, nine tackles)
Selwood has been building some consistent form in the VFL and produced another strong performance on the weekend.

Ryan Abbott (21 disposals, 11 score involvements, one goal)
Unlucky to be omitted after a solid game against the Bulldogs in round nine. Abbott was excellent in the ruck and pushed forward to hit the scoreboard.

Zac Smith (20 disposals, 10 clearances)
Consistently one of Geelong’s best VFL performers each week, but faces a big challenge breaking into the AFL side with Rhys Stanley in career-best form.

Wylie Buzza (19 disposals, 10 marks, nine score involvements)
Backed up his five-goal performance against the Roos with another standout game in attack. He presented well taking 10 marks and brought his teammates into the game with nine score involvements.

Sam Simpson (19 disposals, three score involvements, three tackles)
Another Cat who is consistently performing at a high level, week in week out at VFL level. Will come under consideration to replace the suspended Gary Ablett, having been used in the midfield and in attack this season.

Nathan Kreuger (Six goals, 11 score involvements, seven marks)
Produced the best performance of his Geelong career to date with six goals on the weekend.
